In 2001, we opened Camp Arroyo because we wanted to have a "permanent" place for all Northern California children with life-threatening illnesses.
- A place as a safe-haven away from their daily lives and to build a sense of community for them.
- A place for kids facing similar challenges and diseases to be with each other.
- A place that offers a sanctuary for children to leave behind their worlds of secrecy and despair.
- And a place that through acceptance and trust, they can talk freely about their disease, in a non-judgemental atmosphere, and just be kids.
